We are very excited to announce that JPool’s Smart delegation strategy has received a major overhaul. It has been in the works for a while, and now the new strategy is available in the JPool Documentation.
The changes are already being rolled out; the new strategy, including both validator selection and stake distribution approaches, should be fully implemented by February 5.
One of the most important changes is the introduction of the so-called “stake pots”. The pots represent shares of the pool’s total stake, each serving its own purpose and distributed in unique ways:
The “Community Good” pot is another major change that we’re implementing. This pot represents a share of JPool’s total stake that will be delegated to validators who the node’s staking rewards to fund their Solana-built projects. Check out the docs for the details — and don’t hesitate to reach out if you are running a project benefiting the community yourself!
These are just a couple of the upcoming changes though. The complete roadmap has been published in the JPool Documentation, but let me go over the important bits:
Milestone 1, Jan 15 (already done): Change “Top 30” APY requirement to “Top 300”, adding many more validators to the pool.
Milestone 2, Jan 22: Update rules for adding validators and measuring their performance; introduce “stake pots” and implement base and score-based pots.
Milestone 3, Jan 29: Update rules for monitoring and removing validators from the pool.
Nota bene: Validators running Smart Validator Toolkit (SVT) will be given a change to bring their performance in line with the new requirements until June 1.
Milestone 4, Feb 5: Implement remaining stake pots.
We believe that the new, updated Smart strategy will better support Solana’s validators — the backbone of the blockchain — and make the chain stronger going forward.
